A quick 17 second explainer animation whose goal was to advertise a quick fun and interactive app.
This was a task for a job interview, I had 5 days to make a app video that was themed around the "Guess the accent" challenges that are popular online. To be honest, it was such a fun test that I felt like I really wanted to post it on my portfolio.

Initially I had wanted to go for a 3D design with titles created in After Effects and I did spend a day or two just building and testing the assets in Blender. Sadly, I will be frank and state that, It looked lame.
The design just felt like it wasn't working with the theme. So I took a step back.

I took two days to research, to zero in on a design that I felt would compliment the theme. I spent the next day brainstorming how I could merge the design with the concept and on the last day, I spent time bringing the concept to life in After effects.
I am glad it came out like it did. It was cool getting to flex my creative muscles for a little bit.
As soon as I read the brief sent by the agency I felt like the demo video should be straight to the point getting the user excited to engage with a fun guessing game. With that in mind I rationalized that it should rely on zippy animation, quick movements that function as a fun tutorial that explain how the app works. Bright colors that excite the player while using animations to emphasize the action that is taking place on screen.
I also struggled to keep it short and simple trying to keep it around the 15 second mark. I landed on 17 seconds, a little bit off the kilter but I really didn't want to make it feel too fast for the viewers to enjoy.

I didn't use external plug-ins for this After effects animation and relied on Adobe Illustrator to create the designs.
